Our Story
Our names are Andy and Jody Dickson and we are the founders of The Little Print Company. We believe that events happen for a reason. The event that led us to take the leap of faith to start The Little Print Company occurred in January 1997 when Andy was laid off from a job that he hated. We knew that it was a good time to research home-based businesses but we had no idea where to start. What could we do that would combine our artistic talents and also allow us the fulfillment of being self-employed?

The answer came when we heard of a product being made involving ceramic impressions of children’s hands and feet. It was not an original idea, since we knew that ceramic impressions had been around for many years. Elementary schools often did ceramic impressions of their students but due to financial cutbacks, most were no longer doing them.  But the idea had potential. We saw an opportunity to not only utilize our talents but to also develop a product that only a few were offering.

But we weren’t satisfied with the other products that we saw. We knew that if we wanted to do it right and create our own style, we would have to do our research. Having no experience with ceramics, we spent about nine months experimenting with different clays, glazes and techniques. Eventually, we got to the point where we created a product that we felt comfortable enough to actually charge money for!  We sold our first plaque on September 27, 1997. Fifty thousand impressions later and with customers all over the world, we’re still going strong.  Through the years, we’ve continued to make improvements and refinements so that we can provide the highest quality product of its kind. . . a product that we are so very proud to put our name on.

Our studio is located in our home in Camarillo, CA, which we share with our two beloved dogs, Winston and Little Joe. In addition to our business, Andy works full-time as an Animal Control Officer and Jody works part-time as a receptionist. Needless to say, between our two jobs and the business, plus having two goofy mutts to chase around, we stay very busy!
